Holistically Heal Yourself Through Your Chakras
The ancient practice of chakra healing is gaining popularity in the modern world as individuals seek holistic approaches to well-being. Among the seven energy centers in our body, the root chakra, located at the base of the spine, is considered the 1st of the 7 main chakras and plays a crucial role in grounding us to the earth and fostering a sense of stability.
Symbolized by a vibrant red lotus with four petals, it represents the Earth element and serves as the foundation for our physical and emotional well-being.
In this guide, we'll explore the significance of the root chakra and offer practical tips to heal and balance it, promoting a healthier and more centered life. Understanding the root chakra opens up a world of healing.

Exploring the Chakras and Understanding the Root Chakra
The Muladhara Chakra & What It's Associated With
The root chakra, also known as Muladhara in Sanskrit, is associated with our basic survival needs and influences our sense of:
Security
Stability, and a
Belonging
It governs the:
Adrenal Glands
Positioned atop the kidneys, the adrenal glands are vital for managing stress and maintaining the body's fight-or-flight response as they are associated with the production cortisol and adrenaline (aka. the stress hormones!)
The health of our root chakra & adrenals directly impact our ability to cope with challenges and stressors.
Base of Spine
The spine, the physical backbone of our body, is intricately connected to the root chakra. A balanced root chakra contributes to a strong and resilient spine, both physically and energetically.
This part of the spine becomes negatively & physically impacted when the root chakra becomes imbalanced with low-vibrational feelings & thought patterns around financial and home instability.
If you have money blocks, I highly recommend you book a healing session which focuses directly on healing your subconscious programming around finances and abundance!
The Colon
Responsible for the final stages of digestion and the elimination of waste, an imbalance in Muladhara can manifest as digestive issues, constipation, or other gastrointenstinal discomfort.
Similarly, the idea is that physical issues in the colon or gastrointestinal system may influence the energy flow in the root chakra. The interconnectedness between physical health and energy flow is thought to be bidirectional in these belief systems.
Legs & Feet
Connected to the lower part of the body, the root chakra plays a role in the health and vitality of the legs and feet, promoting stability and groundedness. Just as the root chakra, the feet, knees, and lays are your foundation... they are what hold you up! If your emotional, mental, or spiritual bodies feel shaky, your root chakra will close, shift, or blow open causing physical pain in any of these areas.
Skeletal System
As the foundational chakra, Muladhara influences the skeletal system, providing support and structure for the entire body.
Immune System
A balanced root chakra contributes to a robust immune system, enhancing the body's ability to defend against illnesses and maintain overall well-being.
Blood Circulation
The root chakra's influence extends to blood circulation, ensuring a steady flow of energy and nutrients throughout the body.
Signs of an Imbalanced Root Chakra
Deficiently Imbalanced vs. Excessively Imbalanced
The root chakra can have two types of imbalances... it can either be deficiently imbalanced, which means the energy center is blocked, closed, or slowed down. Or it can be excessively imbalanced, which means it is too open, spinning too fast, and leaky energy!
Understanding the root chakra requires acknowledging the delicate equilibrium it strives to maintain. Imbalances can manifest on a spectrum, ranging from being closed up and constricted to being excessively wide open. Both ends of this spectrum bring about unique challenges that impact our physical, emotional, and energetic states.
I see the deficiently imbalanced chakra as a car wheel where the brakes are dragging on it... The car can't move if the brakes are on and the wheel can't turn.
The excessively imbalanced chakra can be compared to a wheel that just doesn't respond to brakes going down a hill... the will go too fast and lose control.
DEFICIENTLY IMBALANCED
When this chakra is deficiently imbalanced (meaning it's closed or slowed down), individuals may experience feelings of:
Insecurity
Lack of discipline
Restlessness
Instability or ungrounded
Not belonging
Frequent fear, and
Lack around finances and home security
EXCESSIVELY IMBALANCED
When this chakra is excessively imbalanced (meaning it's too open and leaky), individuals may experience:
Heaviness
Sluggishness
Monotony
Obesity
Hoarding
Materialism
A constant yearning for more
Physiological Symptoms
Physical symptoms include:
Pain at base of spine
Leg pain
Leaning underweight
Any issues with the lower half of your body
Immobility from lower back and down
Decreased immunity
Digestive issues
Recognizing these signs is the first step towards healing!
How Root Chakra Imbalances Occur
1. Traumatic Events That Threaten or Sense of Survival
Traumatic events that threatened survival imprint on the energies of the root chakra, creating conscious and unconscious patterns. The traumas faced can be life or death situations but they don't have to be in order to feel the ripple effects in our energy centers, minds and energies.
Some examples could be:
A car accident
A lack of stability during our younger, formative years
Losing a home
Losing a job and income
2. Cultural, Societal, Religious, & Familial Conditioning
Everyday we are bombarded by messaging and taking in cues from social media, news, religious leaders, and the humans closest to us.
If there is conditioning that instills fear, materialism, or escapism through excessive indulgence, this will directly impact your root chakra energy center.
Examples of Fear Conditioning
A parent constantly blowing up at a child for little mistakes.
Becoming physically bullied at school
Religion that instills fear in their communication about going to hell if they don't comply
Living in an unsafe neighborhood or country
Examples of Materialism Conditioning
Seeing a parent be over-obsessed with possessions and owning more just for the sake of having more
Having a family value that more presents is better than the quality or intention of a present
Examples of Escaping Through Excessive Indulgence
Overeating when sad
Excessively sleeping around to fix a void of not having love
Overspending and over-shopping when stressed
3. Generational Patterns & Epigenetic Inheritence
If anyone in your family carries a root chakra imbalance, they can pass it down to the next generation, and this can go on for several generations until someone decides to break it by doing the healing work. Your root chakra imbalance might be passed on from someone in your lineage if there has been an ongoing pattern within several generations in your family.
Do deep-rooted fears or money blocks... or certain imbalances or pain associated with the root chakra exist in several family members and generations? If so, and you are reading this, this is your sign to heal for yourself AND everyone who comes after you.
A generational pattern does not need to keep engraining itself even further... it is very possible to break it!
4. Negative & Low Vibrational Thoughts, Intentions, & Actions
Every thought, intention, and action (conscious AND subconscious) plants a seed in this chakra, shaping our experiences. Acknowledging and addressing these imprints is crucial for healing and breaking free from destructive cycles!
If you are struggling with releasing certain thoughts, my energy healing and subconscious reprogramming session can help QUICKLY! Once you change your thoughts, your emotions and actions will follow suite... and your life and relationships will drastically change!
Techniques for Healing Your Root Chakra
There are several ways to help support the healing of your root chakra, from chanting, to yoga poses, to rewiring your harmful patterns and so on...
Here are a few to choose from. I recommend starting with one or two and adding it into a consistent daily routine. The main goal is to determine what will most effectively make you feel safe in your security, finances, and environment!
If you are currently and actually harms way, find a safe place and get help immediately...
If it's a feeling, emotion or subconscious pattern you are facing, you can move onto the below if your medical provider agrees.
Pick what feels the best to you and what you are innately drawn to!
Energy Healing & Subconscious Reprogramming
The most effective and quickest way to heal your root chakra!
When blended together, energy healing and subconscious reprogramming can create quantum leaps in your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Any low vibrational energy, pattern and thought can be transmuted within just one session!
Energy healing is a modality where a reiki master can channel healing energy to your body. Your body then innately knows where to send the energy to and it will begin to heal itself.
Subconscious reprogramming allows you to bypass your conscious mind and speak directly to your subconscious, which is the part of the mind that controls 95% of your reality... it runs the show and is very hard to rewire, except with a subconscious reprogramming session.
If you are to choose one focus for healing your root chakra or any imbalances associated with it, this would be my personal recommendation so long as your medical provider gives you the go-ahead.
Grounding Exercises for Root Chakra
To restore balance to the root chakra, it's essential to focus on grounding practices that reconnect us with the earth's energy.
Here are grounding activities that will have the most positive impact in regards to healing your root chakra:
Walking barefoot on grass
Gardening without gloves, or
Simply spending time in nature
Engaging in these activities helps release excess energy and promotes a sense of security and stability.
It also allows your energy system to sync up with the healing frequency that mother earth is admitting. As we contact the ground our bodies start to calibrate to such powerful energies.
Balancing Through Meditation & Root Chakra HZ Frequency
Meditation is a powerful tool for chakra healing, especially for the root chakra. Guided meditations that focus on grounding and visualizations of a strong, stable foundation around safety and money can be particularly effective. Regular meditation not only calms the mind but also encourages a deep connection with the root chakra, fostering a sense of safety and security.
If you can, get your hands on a meditation focused on the specific issue you are facing or specifically for the root chakra. Bonus points if you listen to root chakra music in the background with a frequency of 396 HZ. 396 HZ frequency is the energy frequency that balances your root chakra.
Other ways to attune to a 396 HZ Solfeggio frequency are through:

Red, Smokey, Brown, or Black-hued crystals are best for activating a closed root chakra
Green-hued crystals are best for restoring an overactive root chakra
Placing these crystals around your living space or wearing them as jewelry can support the flow of energy through the root chakra.
I personally love to use these crystals laying down during meditation. I will place them mid-way between my thighs or knees. I will start with a black or clear crystal, and then move onto either a red or green depending on what I'm trying to heal.
